Learn and play capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian art martial art that flows like a dance! Feel the beat of Afro-Brazilian music, learn traditional and popular Brazilian dance, play fun games to learn Portuguese language, art and culture with Arizona’s highest level Capoeira Master, Mestra Luar do Sertão.

Our camps build fitness, flexibility, strength and confidence through fun and challenging kicks, escapes, cool moves and games and infuses the positive spirit of multiculturalism.

Great for first-timers and those who currently train capoeira and want to learn more! General camp concludes with a live performance for friends and family. Join our summer fun!

All camps are held at the Capoeira Mandinga Tucson Academy, 605 E. 6th St.  (parking available on east side of building)

Our counselors are fully Covid-vaccinated.

$250 per child per camp session♦

2026 Summer CAMPs will offer:

  • Afro-Brazilian Arts/Capoeira CAMP (music, dance, art, capoeira). Limit 20 campers/week.
    • Ages 6.5 – 12
    • Kids are grouped by age and capoeira level.
  • Adaptive Capoeira CAMP. Neurodiversity-friendly. Participants will engage in adapted full body movement activities.

  • Limit 8 campers/week.
    • Ages 8-17

CAMP Dates/Schedules:

Afro-Brazilian Arts/CapoeiraCAMPs:

10:00 am – 3:00 pm (drop off 9:30 – 10:00 am)

Session 1: May 25-29 (Mon-Fri, includes Memorial Day)

Session 2: July 20 – 24 (Mon – Fri)

Camp finishes with a show for friends and family 2:30 – 3:00 PM on Friday.

Before-camp, After-camp, or BOTH are available (for extra fees)

Before-camp: Monday thru Friday : 8:30 – 9:30 AM

After-camp: Monday thru Thursday: 3 – 5 PM.

Adaptive Capoeira CAMPs. Neurodiversity-friendly:

10:00 am – 12:00 noon (drop off 9:45 – 10:00 am)

Session A1: June 1-4 (Mon-Thurs)

Session A2: June 8-11 (Mon – Thurs)

Camp finishes with a Thursday showcase for friends and family.
